Trip July 2010:
During the month of July of 2010, several members of the board and collaborators of the Foundation travelled to Benin to sign the contracts and perform the bureaucratic steps needed to start the construction of the school in August. Among other activities, we may emphasize:
THE FIRST STONE OF THE SCHOOL WAS LAID DOWN!!
- Ceremony to lay down the first stone on the 18th of July at 16:00: with the presence of the major, vicemajor, a representative of the tribal king of Nikki, several sisters of the Congregation of Saint Augustin, local press and radio, as well as numerous inhabitants of the municipality that joined the event.
- Meetings with the Mother General of the Congregation of Saint Augustin, to discuss the last details of the management covenant of the school, and to establish the following steps to take of both partners.
- Acquisition of a second-hand vehicle for the use of the representatives of the Foundation working in Benin and for the sisters of Saint Augustin in charge of the management of the school, with the aim to save money by avoiding a semi-continuous renting of vehicles, very expensive in Benin.
- Contract of execution of works of the 1st phase signed with the construction firm. The works will start in August, and are scheduled to finish in September 2011.
- Bureaucratic steps taken to obtain the exemption from taxes in Benin of the expenditures related to projects implemented by the Foundation.
